Video: Tiramisu

Get the whole family in the kitchen to lend their hands with this quick and easy dessert recipe. It’s a real “pick me up”!

INGREDIENTS:

6 eggs

6 Tbsp Sugar

500g Mascarpone 

2 cups Brewed coffee or espresso, cooled 

2 Tbsp Grappa

Cocoa Powder

Savaoiardi or “Lady Finger” Cookies

Method

  1. Separate the egg whites and yolks in two separate bowls. Beat the egg whites with a hand mixer until they form loose peaks.

  2. Add the sugar to the bowl with the egg yolks and whisk to combine. Add the mascarpone and whisk to combine.

  3. Gradually fold the mascarpone-yolk mixture into the beaten egg whites.

  4. Add the grappa to the cooled espresso and stir.

  5. Cover the bottom of the serving dish with a layer of the mascarpone mixture. Dust it generously with cocoa powder.

  6. One at a time, dip a savoiardi cookie into the espresso and lay them snugly in a single layer in the serving dish. Continue this layering with the mascarpone, cocoa powder, and dipped cookies, until the dish is almost full. Finish it with a layer of the mascarpone mixture and cocoa powder on top.

  7. Enjoy with some grappa for a decadent, yet simple, dessert!
